Blissful Mommy blossomed from Diana Zacharin and Sandra Kaplan's desire to provide the women of South Florida with a beautiful, comfortable, and relaxing place in which they would be guided through the path that will lead them to the birth of their dreams. A place in which they will get the support they deserve before, during, and after the birth of their baby.
From our personal experience and the teachings of our wonderful clients we came to the understanding that with relaxation, breathing techniques and good support every woman has the ability to birth her baby in a natural and calm way.

Our goal as Childbirth Educators and Doulas is to provide the parents To-be with the knowledge and tools to keep this important moment in their lifes as a Positive memory.

We understand, believe and respect every mothers journey as an individual and unique experience.

We want to take the opportunity to congratulat you and your partner in this beautiful moment of your life.

My experience as a Doula... Against all odds?
Posted On: Nov 18, 2010    |    Posted by: Blissfulmommy

Sometime, by the end of her last trimester, she started to question herself about the birthing of this coming baby.

After her first C-section, the doctor made it very clear, her next babies will be born in the same way and somehow she accepted that idea.

When she was pregnant with her second baby she had no questions, no doubts, just a certain and sharp schedule C-section…..

But this time, this third pregnancy, something was different; she started to feel from within, without any explicit reason, that she wants this baby to be born in a natural way.

That knowledge, that idea, happened very subtly. It just was there. She knew she is able to birth her third baby vaginally. It didn’t matter what friends, family and of course her doctor thought about that crazy, unthinkable idea. In the most private, visceral part of herself she embraced the truth. Three days before her scheduled C-Section I got her first call. We never met before but she needed to hear from someone that her idea is not so crazy. After introducing herself she asked me one simple question, “Do you think I can give birth vaginally after two C-Sections?" My immediate answer was, “I have no doubts!" But then I heard the entire story….. Her first baby is 3 years old and her second baby is 16 months and she is giving birth in the hospital with a doctor known as a "C-section fan". I asked myself, is she going against all odds???

I got her second call three days after ditching her scheduled C-Section. Her voice was clear, confident and determinant….. "Are you available to be my doula? I’m having contractions every few minutes".

As many other times I felt the energy and conviction coming from a laboring woman, that amazing and powerful understanding of how things must been done. I also felt her need and desire to have me as her doula, guiding her, supporting her, holding her hand and reminding her that she is doing a beautiful journey. Through this enchanted dance, we connected and no words were needed to be said, explained or implied. Her body was doing a marvelous performance and she allowed herself to follow her instincts and her sensations.

In a very calm and supportive environment she was surrounded by skeptical but well intentioned nurses, a doubtful but open minded OB ready to give this amazing woman the chance of a beautiful vaginal birth, a totally committed husband eager to back up and reinforce his wife, a compassionate mother caring for her daughter, and myself, her doula, as trusting and confident as I had ever been. And then it happened. She had her baby in the way she and nature intended from the beginning.
And I found the answer to my question. She didn’t go against all odds; she went consistent and reconciled with her beliefs and feelings, just as a mother should.
